Quote of the Day: Failure

“I haven’t failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”

Thomas Edison

Thomas Alva Edison was an American inventor best known for his innovations in electric power generation, communication, and cinema. This quote reminds us of the old adage “If at first, you don’t succeed, try, try again!” I love the humility of this successful man who suggests he has not triumphed 10,000 times, but still will not admit failure. If you haven’t found success in 10,000 attempts, then 10,001 may be your number. Keep going!

  1. There are many many similar stories of people trying until they succeed. My favourite is how WD 40 made. They tried 40 times before they found the mix of chemicals.

I myself, live my life with the determination that i am NOT my donors, i am NOT their puppet, i am Vivika and i am learning what it means to step forward with the knowledge that just cause its one step doesn’t mean its not valuable.

  2. I love this quote, Andrew – I haven’t heard it before. I should take a leaf out of Thomas Edison’s book. If at first, I don’t succeed, try, try and try again – I guess it’s the same meaning, although the first is more original.
