Out of every person to ever live only 7% are alive right now.
The exact percentage of people who are alive at any given time compared to the total number of people who have ever lived is difficult to determine, as it depends on a number of factors such as population growth rates and life expectancy. However, it’s estimated that the total number of people who have ever been born is around 108 billion, and the current global population is around 7.9 billion, so the percentage of people alive now compared to those who have ever lived would be around 7%.
It’s also important to note that the population has been growing exponentially in the last century and the world population reached 1 billion in 1804, 2 billion in 1927, 3 billion in 1960, 4 billion in 1974, 5 billion in 1987, 6 billion in 1999, and reached 7 billion in 2011. The world population reached 8 billion people on November 15, 2022, according to the United Nations. so the percentage of people who are alive today compared to those who have ever lived is likely to be even smaller.
It’s a rough estimate, but it’s true that the vast majority of people who have ever lived are no longer alive.
